First Fragments
Chapter One
Changes
This puzzle piece is a fragment of the girl Mavka used to be. She's sitting in a familiar spot, where she always watches the sun rise, and in this painting, this is the last dawn she'll see as the person she is.
There are clues around her of what is about to happen to her. She's being watched and warned, but she doesn't know yet.
This is about a time in life when you're living as you always do for the last time, unsuspecting a change ahead of you. That change is what ultimately transforms you forever.
Changes may come when you're not ready for them, but they may be a part of why you're here. To see how you handle them, to let them make you stronger, and to know who you're capable of becoming.
The Rebirth
This piece was born from a moment of rebirth. At time in life when a part of me was gone, I picked up paintbrushes and an old canvas that i haven't touched in almost a decade.
The symbolism of this piece was drawn from subconscious and I didn't see it until now. Mavka - from Slavic folklore, is a spirit of a young woman that still dwells among the living, possibly seeking vengeance, maybe protect, or to simply remain tied to the living world.
This is a depiction of a return. In a dark moment when your soul refuses to leave. Its a feeling of being reborn into something more powerful than you might have been before. Its your moment in life when your old self was gone, maybe destroyed, yet what is left of you is still here, and its helping you to carry on as you are, and while for Mavkas this is their final form, it might be a transitional phase for you.
